Early Intervention Seminar 2012 Birmingham

Getting it right for all children and families

Date: 28 February 2012 Location: Birmingham

Early Intervention is being recognised more and more as the answer to ensure that we make a real and lasting improvement to the lives of our children.  Early Intervention with children, young people and families helps them achieve their full potential by nipping problems in the bud and averting costlier interventions further down the line.  However, the challenge is to turn rhetoric into reality.

These seminars will be both strategic and practical to offer the audience a valuable opportunity to understand the challenges of early intervention and think through the implementation of early intervention approaches in their area.

Recently confirmed speakers include:

  • Ross Podyma, Local Support Team Coordinator, Staffordshire Council and Harry Saxon Director of S&Y Social Enterprise ltd
  • Jim Graham, Chief Executive, Warwickshire County Council
  • Ian Curryer, Corporate Director for Children and Families, Nottingham City Council
  • Representative from the Department for Education

The objectives of the day will be to:

  • Update delegates of early intervention – the policy and delivery
  • Hear from Local Authority examples of early intervention best practice, what is happening locally and how it is working
  • Address how the PVI sector can support the delivery of early intervention approaches
  • How can the extension of the 2 year old funding support effective early intervention
  • How Children’s Centres play their full role in delivering early intervention
