4Children’s Popin Children’s Centre reaches out to families across the city
As part of the national charity, 4Children’s efforts to inform more families about the work of Popin Children’s Centre – and to get more feedback about what local families need - staff from the centre will be running an activities week for the under 5s during the forthcoming half term (13th to 17th February 2012). 4Children took over the running of the Plymouth YMCA Children’s Centre on January 1st this year and parents have chosen ‘Popin Children’s Centre’ as a new name for the setting.
The week’s events will take place at a number of different locations around Plymouth in Pennycross, Beacon Park and Manadon. Staff from the Popin Children’s Centre want to meet as many parents and children as possible to tell them what we are doing and also to find out what they would like us to do – so the sessions will be both fun and informative for everyone.
4Children staff will be bringing to life a variety of scenes from Michael Rosen’s classic children’s book ‘We’re Going On a Bear Hunt’ that is enjoyed by children and adults alike. The activities will take a different scene from the story, so that children will be able to get involved in the tale’s excitement as they:
• Struggle through a snowstorm;
• Wade through the grass;
• Splash through the river;
• Squelch through the mud in search of the bear;
• Find a surprise in the cave on the other side of the dark forest.
The activity sessions are happening during half term (13th to 17th February 2012) at the following locations:

Pop in any time between 10am and 2.30pm
