RAF Family Hero - Lindsay Nelson

Despite having four children under the age of 10 and a husband who regularly deploys to Afghanistan, Lindsay selflessly runs 5 mums and toddlers groups a week for the other families, coordinates the SSAFA volunteers 

who help out other families with loved ones deployed and acts as the family representative for all the RAF families.

Lindsay has singlehandedly reinvigorated the local volunteers scheme, recruiting many Service personnel with the skills they need to provide support and care to families left behind, whilst their loved ones deploy to war zones.

Despite being a volunteer herself, Lindsay carries her mobile phone on which people can contact her 24 hours a day if they need help. Despite her own husband frequently deploying to Afghanistan with the RAF Regiment and 4 children of her own to look after, Lindsay always puts the needs of others before herself.
