4Children responds to Government's announcement to bring forward trials of the scheme to double free childcare for working parents

01 June 2015

In response to The Government's announcement, Chief Executive of 4Children Imelda Redmond CBE, said:

The Government's announcement will be good news to parents across the country struggling to pay for childcare costs.

Parents tells us that childcare is one of the biggest financial and logistical challenges they face and this scheme will provide reassurance that their concerns have been heard - especially as one in five paying for childcare told us that they would have to reduce their hours or give up work altogether this year due to the high cost.

The Government's review into how much childcare providers receive to deliver this entitlement will be an essential part of making sure this welcome policy can be delivered effectively.
