South West Family Hero 2014 - Denise Billington

Concerned with what was happening in her community, Denise gave up full time employment to start the ‘Noah Project’ which serves the whole of Cornwall. It is a one stop shop designed to run alongside the foodbank and the womans refuge, providing food parcels, clothes, toys, books and above all emotional and practical support for those in need.

Erica, who nominated Denise, describes her as inspirational, she will go the extra mile for any family coming through her doors.

Whether it is finding a family furniture or being a voice for those who are being terrorised by bailiffs, Denise is always there. The project is a bright light when many people are struggling in the dark, a remarkable woman who selflessly gives up her time to help those in need.
