4Children's 'Childcare and Early Learning Hubs' project will bring together high quality day care providers and childminders into Community Hubs to develop a financially sustainable model for a more flexible and responsive childcare offer.
The hubs are located in:
Seventeen Community Childcare and Early Learning Hubs are up and running around the country. The Hubs are a solution to the limited availability of high quality, flexible childcare that many parents need when trying to balance their work and home commitments. They consist of a variety of early years settings all working together in a local area to achieve three goals – improving quality, offering blended childcare to parents and supporting the provision of new childcare places as required.
Each of the Hubs has engaged a variety of early years settings in the area and have begun working towards these goals in a variety of ways. Ebor Childcare Hub in Strensall, York have created a website which brings together all the information about the early years settings in one easy to use website helping families to easily see the availability and links between the settings. Homerton Childcare Hub in Cambridge have successfully held quality improvement training focused on communication and language. During the next few months the Hubs will continue engaging parents and helping them find childcare to meet their ever changing needs as well as improving quality at a local level.
