This is the fourth year in which 4Children has published the findings of its annual Children’s Centre Census, which provides an overview of the major trends and developments taking place in Children’s Centres across the country. This year the Census received responses from nearly 400 Centre managers, who we estimate are collectively responsible for approximately 1,000 Children’s Centre sites nationwide.

What to expect, when? is a simple guide which takes parents through the expectations of each age band in the EYFS and how they can support their children’s learning and development.

In 2013 4Children celebrated it's 30th year. From its origins and response to the changing working patterns of parents and the welfare of so called ‘latchkey’ children; to its pioneering work to deliver joined up local services and support today, children and families, including those with some of the most complex problems, are at the heart of all that we do. We look back at our main acheivemnts during 2013 and our aspirations for the future.

Evidence tells us that children and family services are not working together as they should and all too often people still don’t know where to go to get help. Children and Family Hubs are proposed as a “game changer” for public services, building on a tried and tested approach in Sue Start Children’s Centres to extend their reach to wider services and social care that delivers better outcomes for all.

The All Party Parliamentary Group on Sure Start, a cross-party group of MPs and peers, has published its ‘2015 Pre-Election Report’.

The findings of this year’s Children’s Centre census attest to the important role at the heart of their communities they support. For the second year running, demand for services is at record levels, with over one million families supported and receiving services delivered through Children’s Centres on a regular basis.

From improved family support to better childcare, communities and social care, 4Children is throwing down the gauntlet for decision makers everywhere to Make Britain Great for Children and Families.

4Children mark the end of our 30th year by launching an ambitious new manifesto which presents a challenge to politicians, policy and decision makers at all levels of government to reshape this country’s public services, spaces and workplaces in response to the dramatic changes to modern family life.
